The new school magazine, Success, generated a huge amount of interest when it was presented to students – not a single copy was left unwanted. We are confident that it will generate a completely new idea of what Ullswater Community College is about.

THE CHALLENGE

Serving a diverse rural community, the school needed a communication that would reach its widely dispersed parents and feeder schools. Strong competition for students had also persuaded the headteacher that it was important to cultivate an image that showcased their own assets effectively.

THE CO-DEVELOPED SOLUTION

A seminar with staff uncovered key aims for the magazine, while Sixth Form students chose the publication’s name, Success. Ofsted was “very impressed” by the publication. The headteacher recognises the magazine’s help in increasing 2011 Year 7 intake by 50 students and increasing job applications.
