Student workshops
Our workshops are highly interactive and designed to make your students think and speak up. Teams are asked to create storyboards which explore what is special and different about their school or college. This is a springboard for us to plan imagery, style, tone of voice and content for all future publications. In teams, students present their ideas back to the group. The workshops last approximately 90 minutes and can be delivered at your school or college. For additional work experience impact, the workshop can be hosted at our design studio. The workshop was energising and started a real collaborative process. Words&Pictures brought our ideas to life in a way we never could have done alone. Deputy Headteacher, Guiseley School

What you will need
- We recommend selecting between 6-12 students from Years 7 to 13
- Ask the students to think about what inspires them – and to bring any magazines, newspapers or other printed material they don’t mind sharing and cutting up
- A suitable room with large tables, glue and scissors
- A key member of staff to participate in the presentations at the end of the workshop
We participated in this workshop because it gave our GCSE students the opportunity to work with professionals on a project which mattered; the creation of our school news magazine. It provided not only a worthwhile educational experience, but also led to the production of a school magazine that is the work of students. This is a genuine way to convey what a school is like. Headteacher, Scalby School
What we will bring
- A team of education marketing experts (with enhanced CRB disclosure checks)
- A range of magazines and newspapers suitable for the target audience
- Storyboards for the two teams
- Certificates for the students – to reward their achievements
The workshop was brilliant and really good fun! I’m excited to see how our ideas will be used in the school’s prospectus. Pupil, Hunslet Moor Primary School
